THE CONTEMPORARY STILL LIFE IN OIL, A three day workshop
INSTRUCTOR: Kate Worm
DATE: March 3-5, 2014, Monday thru Wednesday
LOCATION: Franklin Square Gallery
The Contemporary Still Life in Oil presents an experimental approach to oil painting. Painters will work with an arrangement of objects placed on a table by Kate and others. Count on some jewels emerging from your work. Composition, good drawing and beautiful color choices will be most important. Painting structure will develop through limited collage work and sketching in oil. Along with brushes, paint will be applied with rollers and removed with fingers, paper and rags. Painters will experience a systematic, thought-out approach to layering color and explore building neutral tones from vibrant pigments in a unique way. Oh, let's not forget the effects of light and, oh yes, the joy of painting.
Kate is an accomplished oil painter. Her figure work with watercolor and gouache was featured in American Artist Watercolor Magazine, Summer 2006. See images of Kate's oil paintings and watercolors at www.kateworm.com.
